Jesuuna (b. 1993) is a Chinese-American contemporary abstract artist born and based in San Francisco, California. Art has been her vehicle of self-expression since adolescence, a way for her to document her existence and explore curiosities. She creates as a form of diaristic narration primarily through oil painting and photography, which are influenced by her studies in architecture and design. The primary interest of her paintings is to evoke existential human emotions with spatial forms, which features spherical contours and fields of colour that challenge depth and gravity. Jesuuna’s solo exhibition in 2018, “Prelude in Colour”, featured her photographic works that emerged from her artist residency in Sweden. Since then, her paintings have been featured in the de Young Museum as part of the “de Young Open” showcase in 2020.
